1. SUBMISSION
Thank you for your interest in Zoonoses and Public Health. Note that submission implies that the content has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere except as a brief abstract in the proceedings of a scientific meeting or symposium.
New submissions should be made via the Research Exchange submission portal https://wiley.atyponrex.com/journal/ZPH. Should your manuscript proceed to the revision stage, you will be directed to make your revisions via the same submission portal. You may check the status of your submission at any time by logging on to submission.wiley.com and clicking the “My Submissions” button. Preprint Policy
Zoonoses and Public Health will consider for review articles previously available as preprints. Authors may also post the submitted version of a manuscript to a preprint server at any time. Authors are requested to update any pre-publication versions with a link to the final published article.
2. AIMS AND SCOPE
Zoonoses and Public Health brings together veterinary and human health researchers and policy-makers by providing a venue for publishing integrated and global approaches to zoonoses and public health. The Editors will consider papers that focus on timely collaborative and multi-disciplinary research in zoonoses and public health. This journal provides rapid publication of original papers, reviews, and potential discussion papers embracing this collaborative spirit. Papers should advance the scientific knowledge of the sources, transmission, prevention and control of zoonoses and be authored by scientists with expertise in areas such as microbiology, virology, parasitology and epidemiology. Articles that incorporate recent data into new methods, applications, or approaches (e.g. statistical modeling) which enhance public health are strongly encouraged.
3. MANUSCRIPT CATEGORIES AND REQUIREMENTS
Zoonoses and Public Health publishes a number of different article types including:
Original Article
Original articles should contain reports of new research findings or conceptual analyses that make a significant contribution to knowledge. Original articles should be no more than 4,000 words, excluding references.
Review
Reviews should be critical reviews of the literature, including systematic reviews and meta-analyses and should not exceed 6,000 words, excluding references.
Short Communication
Short communications may be published more rapidly than original articles. They should be a short report of new research findings and should be no more than 2,000 words, excluding references.
Editorial
Editorials are usually commissioned but unsolicited material may be considered. Please approach the Editorial Office (ZPH.journal@wiley.com) before submitting this material. Editorials have a limit of 1,000 words.
Letter to the Editor
Letters to the Editor: providing comments on previously published papers are welcomed. Comments should be confined to the substance of the paper and the authors of the paper referred to will be offered the opportunity to respond. If the authors do not want to provide a response, or do not provide a response within 30 days, an Editor's footnote will be added to the published Letter to the Editor (e.g. “The authors of [title of previously published paper] offered no comments".)

4. PREPARING YOUR SUBMISSION
Manuscripts can be uploaded either as a single document (containing the main text, tables and figures), or with figures and tables provided as separate files. Should your manuscript reach revision stage, figures and tables must be provided as separate files. The main manuscript file can be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or LaTex (.tex) format.
If submitting your manuscript file in LaTex format via Research Exchange, select the file designation “Main Document – LaTeX .tex File” on upload. When submitting a Latex Main Document, you must also provide a PDF version of the manuscript for Peer Review. Please upload this file as “Main Document - LaTeX PDF.” All supporting files that are referred to in the Latex Main Document should be uploaded as a “LaTeX Supplementary File.”
Your main document file should include:
A short informative title containing the major key words. The title should not contain abbreviations;
The full names of the authors with institutional affiliations where the work was conducted, with a footnote for the author’s present address if different from where the work was conducted;
Acknowledgments;
Up to six keywords;
Main body: formatted as summary and key words, impacts, introduction, materials & methods, results, discussion, acknowledgements, conflict of interest statement;
References;
Tables (each table complete with title and footnotes);
Figures: Figure legends must be added beneath each individual image during upload AND as a complete list in the text.
Best Practices
The main manuscript file must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or LaTex (.tex) formats.
Figures should be numbered in the order that they are cited in the text, and presented in that order after the text of the paper
Full names (First, Middle, and Last) should be provided for all authors
Authors should include the complete affiliation addresses in the manuscript. At minimum, authors should include the institution name and country, but a complete affiliation also includes department name and institution city. The institution postal code is optional.
Title
The title page should contain:
(i) a short informative title that contains the major key words. The title should not contain abbreviations (see Wiley's best practice SEO tips)
Authorship
Please refer to the journal’s authorship policy the Editorial Policies and Ethical Considerations section for details on eligibility for author listing.
Acknowledgements
Contributions from anyone who does not meet the criteria for authorship should be listed, with permission from the contributor, in an Acknowledgments section. See section on Authorship for more detail. Financial and material support should also be mentioned. Thanks to anonymous reviewers are not appropriate.
Conflict of Interest Statement
You will be asked to provide a conflict of interest statement during the submission process. See the section ‘Conflict of Interest’ in the Editorial Policies and Ethical Considerations section for details on what to include in this section. Please ensure you liaise with all co-authors to confirm agreement with the final statement. The Conflict of Interest statement should be included within the main text file of your submission.
Summary
Please provide a summary of no more than 300 words.
Keywords
Please provide 3-6 keywords and list them in alphabetical order. Keywords should be taken from those recommended by the US National Library of Medicine's Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) browser list at https://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/.
Impacts
Please include three bullet points, of around 100 words in total, explaining the importance of the paper’s findings for a non-specialist audience. These points will be published at the top of the article in a box entitled ‘Impacts’.
Main Text
Where possible, the text should be divided into the following sections: Summary, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, Conflict of Interest Statement and References.
References
References should be prepared according to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th edition). This means in text citations should follow the author-date method whereby the author's last name and the year of publication for the source should appear in the text, for example, (Jones, 1998). The complete reference list should appear alphabetically by name at the end of the paper.
A sample of the most common entries in reference lists appears below. Please note that a DOI should be provided for all references where available. For more information about APA referencing style, please refer to the APA FAQ. Please note that for journal articles, issue numbers are not included unless each issue in the volume begins with page one.

Tables
Tables should be self-contained and complement, but not duplicate, information contained in the text. They should be supplied as editable files, not pasted as images. Legends should be concise but comprehensive – the table, legend and footnotes must be understandable without reference to the text. All abbreviations must be defined in footnotes. Footnote symbols: †, ‡, §, ¶, should be used (in that order) and *, **, *** should be reserved for P-values. Statistical measures such as SD or SEM should be identified in the headings.
Figure Legends
Legends should be concise but comprehensive – the figure and its legend must be understandable without reference to the text. Include definitions of any symbols used and define/explain all abbreviations and units of measurement.
Preparing Figures
Although we encourage authors to send us the highest-quality figures possible, for peer-review purposes we are happy to accept a wide variety of formats, sizes, and resolutions.

Colour figures: Colour figures may be published free of charge.
