Instructions to Authors
Applied Ecology and Environmental Research as a fully Open Access international scientific journal publishes only original research papers and review articles (scientific publications). Researchers from all countries are invited to publish ecological, environmental, botanical, zoological or multidisciplinary agricultural research of international interest on its pages. There is no bias with regard to taxon or geographical area. Manuscripts (of scientific publications) should present new scientific findings that have not been published before and are not submitted for publication elsewhere.
Papers must be in English, but short abstracts in other language(s) may be added. All manuscripts are peer reviewed by at least two independent referees. Papers accepted for publication by the editorial board are subject to editorial revision.
Public agreement for publishing.
The authors declare that the submitted manuscript is their own work, which has not been published before and that they are not going to publish it anywhere else later.
The authors take responsibility for the content of the publication. Author can only be a person who participated in the original scientific research.
It is the responsibility of the author to obtain written permission for reproducing illustrations or tables from other published material.
The authors and the journal agree that the journal publish the reviewed and accepted manuscript after technical construction in electronic form.
The authors and the journal agree not to lay any claim to financial demand, except in the case of conditional acceptance, when the author may bear the financial burdens of technical editing and publication or other expert service as an expertise fee.
The manuscript will be published only after the final aproval of the galley proof by the authors. The detailed final check of text, figures, tables, references, list of authors and affiliations and final correction of edited galley proof is the responsibility of authors. After the final aproval of the galley proof, the paper is considered „published”, and therefore it is unchangable.
The authors can ask for amendment or errata related to the publication, which will be published in the subsequent edition of the journal or as an electronic appendix in maximum one page. Other additions or remarks to the article after publication will be judged by the Editorial Board.
The authors will transfer copyright to the publisher of AEER.
This agreement for publication will become lawful on the authors’ side from submitting the manuscript, on the journal’s side from the announcement of the publication’s acceptance. In the case this procedure occurs through electronic channels, this agreement is valid without an additional signed copy.
Reviewing process.
The full reviewing process is made up of the following parts:
1.Pre-review (selection and classification)
2.Linguistic, structural and scientific methodological review, plagiarism check (CrossCheck/iThenticate)
3.Expert review
All submitted manuscripts are pre-reviewed within 1 months generally. During the pre-reviewing process they are classified into 4 categories, as follows:
•High Priority. Very good scientific manuscripts with outstanding scientific and social importance within a special discipline, with high expected citation, with proper methodology, structure, wording and format, which are presumably publishable in the submitted form without any modification. These manuscripts are reviewed and published in order of submission. In this category publication is absolutely free.
•Medium Priority. Original and important scientific manuscripts with significant expected citation, which are presumably acceptable and publishable in the submitted form, without any modification.
•Low Priority. Original and important scientific manuscripts with low expected citation, or manuscripts which are presumably acceptable only after minor revision.
•Basic Priority. Data communications or preliminary reports of international interest with acceptable methodology, structure and meaningful results but with low scientific importance, low expected citation, or important manuscripts which are acceptable only after major revision.
The reviewing process of manuscripts in the last three categories are suspended after the pre-review. Authors are informed about the status of their manuscript and they can decide whether they want to continue the reviewing process with the open access publication fee indicated in the below table. Authors are required to make payment only after their manuscript has been professionaly accepted for publication. After payment (if applicable) the manuscript move to content accepted cathegory and the technical editing starts; after technical editing and authorial final aprovement the manuscript move to "in press" cathegory. Publication fee for this category is shown in the below table. A discount is valid if at least one of the authors are from a developing country (countries outside the USA, Canada, European Union, Australia, New Zealand, Japan or South Korea).

A discount is valid if at least one of the authors are from a developing country (countries outside the USA, Canada, European Union, Australia, New Zealand, Japan or South Korea). In case of Conference Special Issues the fee of publication is 850 EUR/accepted manuscript. All indicated values are net amounts, therefore in case of Hungarian payers and EU payers with no EU VAT (value-added tax) number, a VAT of 27% will be added to the amount. In all other cases VAT is 0%. Authors can pay by bank transfer based on payment details sent by e-mail, or upon request online, by bank card based on a personal internet-link sent by e-mail.
•Rejected. Manuscripts in this category do not fit our profile or do not meet the requirements of our journal.
Confidentiality of the reviewing process.
All manuscripts are peer reviewed by at least two independent referees in a secret way. During the reviewing process the names of the authors and referees are treated with strict confidence, these are only known by the editor-in-chief, and the managing technical editor. The names of authors and referees are unknown by each other or any other member of the Editorial Board except for the acting editors. The names of referees are not revealed afterwards even in the case of acceptance or rejection. The public information service of submitted manuscripts are managed anonymously.
Submission of manuscripts.
To ensure rapid publication process, manuscripts should be submitted in final, "ready to publish" format (edited with the sample.dot file based on the instructions, for detailed information please visit Preparation of Manuscipts) as an attached document (preferably *.doc format), e-mailed to: aeerjournal@gmail.com
We accept papers for review only directly from the authors, with full author list (and correct affiliations). It is ineviatable for referee appointments, and to keep the authorship rules. Author could be only a person who significantly contributed to the scientific research work. For financial or other non-scientific reasons, an author may not be excluded from or added to the author list.
The originally submitted author list is not changeable. We do not publish any paper with different author-list than the originally submitted one, and we do not pay back any fee, in connection with this problem or in connection with authorial side’s withdrawal. Please double-chech the author list before submission!
We process the manuscripts in the order of the last e-mail’s date, therefore we suggest not to send us any e-mail before you received our answer to the previous one, because it will slow down very much the process. We also suggest you do not use any other e-mail address than the official one (aeerjournal@gmail.com), because different e-mails will extremly slow down the process (all such cases require a special procedure with separate shedule and during these the process is suspended).
We suggest to prepare your manuscript before submission strictly based on the formatting instructions (http://aloki.hu/manuscr.htm) and the downloadable sample.dot file, because every difference will slow down the reviewing and publishing process, and may decrease the expected prereview category of the submitted manuscript.
