JOURNAL OF TISSUE ENGINEERING AND REGENERATIVE MEDICINE

1. SUBMISSION

Thank you for your interest in the Journal of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine. Note that submission implies that the content has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere except as a brief abstract in the proceedings of a scientific meeting on symposium.

New submissions should be made via the Wiley Authors submission portal https://submission.wiley.com/journal/term. For technical help with the submission system, please review our FAQs or contact submissionhelp@wiley.com.

Data Protection

By submitting a manuscript to or reviewing for this publication, your name, email address, and affiliation, and other contact details the publication might require, will be used for the regular operations of the publication, including, when necessary, sharing with the publisher (Wiley) and partners for production and publication. You can learn more at https://authorservices.wiley.com/statements/data-protection-policy.html.

Preprint Policy

The Journal of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine will consider for review articles previously available as preprints. Authors may also post the submitted version of a manuscript to a preprint server at any time. Authors are requested to update any pre-publication versions with a link to the final published article.

2. AIMS AND SCOPE

The Journal of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine publishes rapidly and rigorously peer-reviewed research papers, reviews, clinical case reports, perspectives, and short communications on topics relevant to the development of therapeutic approaches which combine stem or progenitor cells, biomaterials and scaffolds, growth factors and other bioactive agents, and their respective constructs. All papers should deal with research that has a direct or potential impact on the development of novel clinical approaches for the regeneration or repair of tissues and organs.

The journal is multidisciplinary, covering the combination of the principles of life sciences and engineering in efforts to advance medicine and clinical strategies. The journal focuses on the use of cells, materials, and biochemical/mechanical factors in the development of biological functional substitutes that restore, maintain, or improve tissue or organ function. The journal publishes research on any tissue or organ and covers all key aspects of the field, including the development of new biomaterials and processing of scaffolds; the use of different types of cells (mainly stem and progenitor cells) and their culture in specific bioreactors; studies in relevant animal models; and clinical trials in human patients performed under strict regulatory and ethical frameworks. Manuscripts describing the use of advanced methods for the characterization of engineered tissues are also of special interest to the journal readership.

3. MANUSCRIPT CATEGORIES AND REQUIREMENTS

The Journal of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine publishes a number of different article types including:

Original Research Papers

Approximate limit 6,800 words, with a maximum of six figures and/or four tables and 30/40 references

Reviews

Usually submitted at the invitation of the Editors. Unsolicited reviews will be welcome, especially when based on major conference Plenary/Keynote Lectures, but please consult the Editor-in-Chief beforehand with a synopsis for evaluation. Reviews are normally up to 10,500 to 13,000 words including references.

Short Communications

These must be complete, self-contained papers, and not preliminary reports. They should report on particularly new and relevant results that deserve to be published quickly, and are normally limited to 2000 words and a maximum of 2 figures and/or two tables and 10 to 15 references. These papers should not have sub-headings, but have a clear order of presentation and include adequate detail of the relevant experimental methods and the results obtained.

Clinical Case Studies

Approximate limit 6,800 words, with a maximum of six figures and/or four tables and 30/40 references. The reported cases should be highly relevant to the field of TERM, namely with regard to their novelty. Authors should state clearly how many patients were involved in the study and, a statistical analysis should be included whenever relevant, as well as a detailed description of the experimental methods and ethical protocols followed during the study.

Perspectives

Short authoritative reviews presenting an outlook on the likely evolution of a chosen subject area. Usually submitted at the invitation of the Editors. Unsolicited perspective papers may be considered if they are of special relevance to the field, but please consult the Editor-in-Chief beforehand with a synopsis for evaluation. Perspectives should be 2,600 to 5,200 words including references.

4. PREPARING YOUR SUBMISSION

Free format submission

The Journal of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine offers free format submission for a simplified and streamlined submission process.

Before you submit, you will need:

Your manuscript: this should be an editable file including text, figures, and tables, or separate fileswhichever you prefer. All required sections should be contained in your manuscript, including abstract, introduction, methods, results, and conclusions. Figures and tables should have legends. Figures should be uploaded in the highest resolution possible. References may be submitted in any style or format, as long as it is consistent throughout the manuscript. Supporting information should be submitted in separate files. If the manuscript, figures or tables are difficult for you to read, they will also be difficult for the editors and reviewers, and the editorial office will send it back to you for revision. Your manuscript may also be sent back to you for revision if the quality of English language is poor.
