English Author Guidelines
Many thanks for considering submitting a manuscript to Berichte zur Wissenschaftsgeschichte / History of Science and Humanities. Please submit your manuscript via the journal’s web-based submission system:
https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/bewi
When submitting, you will be asked to upload
• your manuscript (the main file) in RTF or DOCX format (containing all footnotes, and a list of all figure captions at the end of the manuscript);
• a title page in RTF or DOCX format;
• an optional cover letter (as plain text to be copied into the online submission form);
• a summary/abstract of up to 200 words (as plain text to be copied into the online submission form); and
• all figures/tables as individual files (TIFF, JPEG, or EPS).
The peer-review process of Berichte zur Wissenschaftsgeschichte / History of Science and Humanities is double blind. Thus, the actual manuscript file should bear no traces of the authors’ identity. Please see below for more information on this and on how to structure the title page and the main file.
When submitting, you will also be asked to name potential referees for the peer-review process. This is optional, but we encourage you to name two or more potential referees that you deem suited to judge the scholarly quality of your manuscript.
When submitting, please have your ORCID researcher ID handy or create one. More information on ORCID can be found here: https://orcid.org/.
When submitting a paper with more than one author, please make sure that you have agreed on a corresponding author and that you have the permission of all authors to submit your jointly authored manuscript. Please mark the corresponding author on the title page by an asterisk (*) following the author’s name.
If your manuscript is accepted for publication, the corresponding author receives page proofs both as a Word and a PDF file directly via email from the typesetting company. We strongly encourage authors to make corrections directly in the Word document (in change tracking mode), but you can also add your corrections to the PDF file using the commenting tool. You may also find comments by our copy editor in the document, which you are kindly asked to take into account. Major text changes beyond correction of misprints can be invoiced to the author. The corrected proofs have to be returned to the typesetter department via e-mail as soon as possible and latest within one week. The editor reserves the right to publish articles with his own corrections after expiration of a deadline of 14 days.
