2. EDITORIAL AND CONTENT CONSIDERATIONS
Aims and Scope
AJARE publishes original research articles relating to all aspects of agricultural, resource and environmental economics. The emphasis is on quantitative work, which is novel and policy relevant. AJARE is an international journal and welcomes studies that use empirical data from any part of the world. However, the Editors take special interest in studies that reflect the Australasian, Asian, and Pacific context of many of AJARE’s readers and contributors. The editorial objectives of AJARE are to maintain a high standard of analytical rigor while offering sufficient variety of content to appeal to a broad spectrum of both academic and professional economists and policymakers.
Editorial Review and Acceptance
AJARE conducts a comprehensive, double-blinded peer review process. All submitted papers are pre-screened by the Editors and some papers may be immediately “desk” rejected, on the grounds that they are not considered to be a good fit for AJARE in terms of topic or methodology, or they have insufficient link with the body of research previously published in the journal. Papers that fall short of AJARE’s high standards, in terms of methodological rigor or the contribution or value added to the literature, are also desk rejected. The Editors’ decisions about which manuscripts are accepted for publication are final.
Manuscripts should be written in a clear, concise, direct style. Where contributions are judged as acceptable for publication on the basis of content, the Editors and Publisher reserve the right to modify typescripts to eliminate ambiguity and repetition and improve communication between author and reader.
Data storage and documentation
AJARE expects that data supporting the results in the paper will be archived in an appropriate public repository. Authors are required to provide a data availability statement to describe the availability or the absence of shared data. When data have been shared, authors are required to include in their data availability statement a link to the repository they have used, and to cite the data they have shared. Whenever possible the scripts and other artefacts used to generate the analyses presented in the paper should also be publicly archived. If sharing data compromises ethical standards or legal requirements then authors are not expected to share it.
See the Standard Templates for Author Use section below to select an appropriate data availability statement for your dataset.
