讲到增长和增强，大家不免就想起increase, upsoar, augment, multiply, enhance等。例如：

今天，我们来学习两个新词，uptick和upswing,并通过最新的时文例句来达到活用的目的。如果把例句背诵下来，你跟朋友用英语聊天，就会增加不少新话题，获得不少新乐趣。

uptick 通常是指少量的增长，或上升的趋势，英文释义为：a small  increase in number or amount of something. 例句：

1) In some months, there's a slight uptick, and in some months there's a decrease. 有些月份略有上升，有些月份有所下降。

2) There's a general uptick in interest overall for ChatGPT. 人们对生成型预训练变换模型聊天系统（ChatGPT）的整体兴趣普遍上升。

3）We started active surveillance for any upticks in flu-like symptoms.我们开始积极监测流感样症状的增加。

2. upswing的意思是提高; 进步; 改进, a marked increase or improvement (as in activity)

1) The upswing of flu and respiratory diseases in the past several months has only worsened the situation.过去几个月流感和呼吸道疾病的增加只会使情况恶化。

2) While mom-and-pop card and gift stores struggled during the pandemic, the market is on an upswing and projected to reach 13.4 billion by 2027.尽管夫妻卡和礼品店在疫情期间举步维艰，但市场正在上升，预计到2027年将达到134亿。

3）Temperatures will be on the upswing over the next several days, eventually remaining in the 20c in the afternoon for a significant stretch to start the New Year.在接下来的几天里，气温将持续上升，最终在下午保持在20度左右，直到新年开始。
