Cover letter是我们带给期刊编辑的第一印象，也是我们与编辑的第一次对话，Cover letter的书写在投稿的中所占的比重真的比我们想象的要大的多。在Cover letter 中，我们往往要用最简单，最精炼的语言去告诉编辑，我们这篇论文的亮点和研究价值等等，以取得好的印象，帮助编辑浏览论文，并且成功送审。但是往往Cover letter 的书写工作也是大家最容易忽略的地方，一般可能简单地复制摘要，然后附上通讯作者联系方式，其实这样是极不可取的。
Cover letter 的写作技巧：一篇投稿信最重要的两点，是语言简洁和符合期刊标准。
所以，要想写好投稿信，我们务必要了解各个投稿期刊的要求。
打开期刊主页，找到 information for authors/instructions for author（就是对作者的要求），找到 Cover Letter，这就是该期刊对 Cover Letter 的要求了。
根据期刊要求，就可以动笔写 Cover Letter 了。一般来说，Cover Letter 以 word 的形式提交，按照期刊要求的字体大小来写，长度建议不超过一页。
下面我们拆分 Cover Letter，详细看看一篇 Cover Letter 应该怎么写。
第一部分 开门见山
这一部分，主要是告诉编辑，我的文章标题和文章类型，并且写上我们没有一稿多投的情况。
首先，我们用斜体字写上期刊的名字，再跟编辑打个招呼。（如下图所示）
第二部分 亮点介绍
这一部分，主要是介绍文章的亮点和主要内容。
先用一句话概括文章的核心内容：This manuscript addresses XXX.
然后，简单的介绍一下文章背景和一些关键词。接下来，再说明在这方面其他人已经做了什么（可以引用参考文献），有什么研究上的空白，进而引出文章的亮点。
如果觉得投稿信篇幅过长，或者对自己的表达不够自信的话，可以直接介绍自己文章的亮点即可。在描述亮点的时候切忌浮夸，要给人家低调奢华有内涵的感觉！
第二段的写法比较多样化，只需用简洁的语言把文章的内容和亮点讲清楚即可。如果是综述类型的文章，还可以按照摘要的写法，简单描述一下自己总结了什么。
第三部分 作者信息
这一部分，写上一些客套话，再附上通讯作者的信息，收尾。（如下文所示）
Cover letter的主要内容：
简单概括文章的核心内容，主要发现，创新点以及意义，以及对稿件的处理是否有特殊的要求。此外还要附上主要作者的通讯信息，有的杂志会要求推荐审稿人。各个杂志的具体要求是不一样的，下笔之前最好在杂志的guide for authors上去找找有无相关要求。如果没有具体的，就按照通用的要求进行处理就行。
下面的话就给出一些我收藏的模板。
模板一：

We submit hereby the manuscript entitled: XXX”. All authors have read this manuscript and would like to have it considered exclusively for publication in XXX杂志. None of the material related to this manuscript has been published or is under consideration for publication elsewhere, including the internet. We submit this manuscript based on the following reasons:

3.Extensive Interests:........
