论文中，有时候数字的使用是不可缺少的。在英文论文中，我们又应该如何使用数字呢？怎样准确的表达它呢？
1、 如果数字并列出现，那么无论数字是否小于10，最好能保持一致。
例：She has four brothers aged 5, 7 ,12, and 15.
2、表示概数时 , 只能使用英文数字 :about five hundreds ( 约 500), approximately forty thousands( 近 4 万 ) .
3、小于 10 的数字最好是拼写，用英文拼写形式更好一些，而且也显得正式。
4、21-99用连字符
如：Forty-three people were injured in the train wreck.
5、一个单词的数字最好是拼写，比如「24」，使用「twenty」更好一些。
6、大数字最好使用千分位，对于比较大的数字，最好是使用千分位表达。比如「571951」，使用「571,951」表达更规范。
7、阿拉伯数字不宜出现在句子的开头。例如“ Six percent students voted. ” (6% 的学生投了票 ) 不宜为“ 6 percent students voted. ”。
8、 由于在英、美等国 billion, trillion 及 quadrillion 所代表的数目不一致 , 科技文稿中应避免使用 , 例如“ 12.5 亿人口”最好表示为“ apopulationof1.25 × 109 ” 。
9、分数用连字符，
如：We recovered about two-thirds of the stolen cash.
One-half is slightly less than five-eighths.
10、小于1刀的钱不建议用分数表示
如：不推荐：He had only $0.60.
可用: He had only sixty cents. 或 He had only 60 cents.
11、一般用数字表示时间， 但是也可用文字，一般整点用文字。
如：The flight leaves at 6:22 a.m.
12、带分数用数字，除非在句首
如：We expect a 5 1/2 percent wage increase.
Five and one-half percent was the expected wage increase.
