当一篇稿件通过初审后，编辑通常会把标题和摘要发给潜在的审稿专家。因此准确而有吸引力的标题和摘要是审稿专家同意评审的关键。相反，如果审稿专家对标题和摘要不感兴趣，不仅会拉长评审周期，而且可能会影响他们对稿件价值的判断。这期咱们来聊聊撰写标题和摘要该注意的问题。

关于标题的常见问题
01
过于冗长
小编这里指的冗长并不是说标题中单词总数过多，因为一些标题确实需要较长的描述才能准确概括论文的内容，而是要避免使用过长的名词语串。当用名词来修饰其他名词时，读者难以确定词语间的逻辑关系。例如：
Difficult: A Passive Microwave Remote Sensing Northern Hemisphere Lake Ice Phenology Monitoring Dataset
这个标题需要通过诸如“of”、“for”、“based on”等词语或短语来改写，方便读者理解。
Better: A Dataset for Monitoring Lake Ice Phenology in the Northern Hemisphere based on Passive Microwave Remote Sensing
此外，需要注意这个标题是想说明此论文是关于一个“数据集”的文章，因此改写后的句子将“A Dataset…”作为开头。
02
过于简短
此类问题并不常见，但确实会发生。如果标题过于简短，读者难以通过标题了解论文的主旨。

语法错误
尽管标题通常采用名词短语的形式，而不是句子，但还是要遵循基本的语法规则。 例如，要正确使用单复数，还要注意使用正确的动词形式等。

Correct: Progress in the use of SAR data in archaeological prospection

冠词的误用
此类常见错误是在标题中遗漏“a”、“an”或“the”等冠词，或是在不需要冠词的时候添加了冠词。冠词语法规则依然适用于标题。
Incorrect: The accuracy analysis of MODIS data in Atlantic Ocean area
Correct: An accuracy analysis of MODIS data in the Atlantic Ocean area
Better: An analysis of the accuracy of MODIS data in the Atlantic Ocean area
世界上只有一个大西洋，因此“Atlantic Ocean area”前使用冠词“the”。但是关于大西洋的分析确实多种多样的，所以“analysis”前冠词应使用 “an”！
类似的，如果投稿论文是介绍一种新方法、新技术或者新算法，标题都可以选择以“A new method for …”开头。

Correct: A new method for estimating biomass based on a combination of remotely sensed data and field data

涉及“时间跨度”的标题
在撰写标题时，要避免出现“over the past 10 years”之类的短语。这样的标题并不能准确地描述时间跨度，因为只有知道起始年，才能知道“over the past 10 years”所指的是哪段时间。所以，应在标题中清楚表述研究所覆盖的时间范围。
Incorrect: Dynamics of the timberline and its response to climate change in the Huangshan Mountains over the past three decades
Correct: Dynamics of the timberline and its response to climate change in the Huangshan Mountains over the period 1992–2022
摘要撰写的注意事项
首先，应查看所投期刊的作者须知是否对摘要的结构、内容、段落数量和长度等方面提出了具体的要求。大多数的论文写作规则仍适用于摘要的撰写，小编再指出几点需要特别注意的地方。

‘This paper studies …’的误用
该短语其实是一个很常见的错误，因为做研究的不是论文，而是科研人员！
Incorrect: This paper studies the identification of winter wheat in Henan province using several different types of remote sensing data.
我们可以使用“In this study …”作为开头来改写上面的病句。
Correct: In this study, the identification of winter wheat in Henan province using several different types of remote sensing data was considered.
请注意，上面的改写句需要使用“was considered”或“was analyzed”这样的被动动词形式。我们也可以尝试用主动语态进行改写：
Correct: This study focused on the identification of winter wheat in Henan province using several different types of remote sensing data.

‘Aiming at’ 的误用
我们经常在中文摘要中使用“针对”一词，“Aiming at”其实是“针对”的直译写法。尽管我们可以理解，但是英语为母语的人读起来会觉得很奇怪。在英文摘要中最好避免使用这个短语，句子可以改写成如下形式。
Original: Aiming at characterizing the spatio-temporal patterns in the urban heat island of Beijing, this paper …
Better: With the aim of characterizing the spatio-temporal patterns in the urban heat island of Beijing, in this study, we …
or
Better: The aim of this study was to characterize the spatio-temporal patterns in the urban heat island of Beijing …

时态
许多作者撰写摘要时不知道该使用那种时态。之所以会有这种困惑，是因为摘要可以采用两种截然不同的写作风格。
Style 1 作者所描述的研究工作在论文撰写之前已经完成了，这就意味着摘要的大部分内容可以使用一般过去时。例如：
… the Hengduan Mountains region of China was selected as a study area and a series of 136 Landsat images covering this area were collected. First, the alpine timberline was retrieved and the spatiotemporal dynamics of the timberline were explored…
但是摘要中的某些句子还是应该使用一般现在时，例如我们在阐述研究结果时就可以用一般现在时：
The results indicate that the average annual temperature …
Style 2 摘要的大部分内容用一般现在时来撰写。这种写作风格更多地从论文本身的角度出发，通常不会使用“In this study”之类的短语。
In this paper, we explore the dynamics of the alpine timberline and its response to climate change in the Hengduan Mountains using Landsat imagery. It is found that over the period 1985–2015 the alpine timberline accelerated upward …
Style 1写作风格可能更为常见。需要注意的是无论采用哪种风格或时态，都要在摘要中保持统一。
