About the Programme

The School of Law fosters and promotes research in all major fields of legal study. Our research explores contemporary issues across the fields of law and criminal justice, informing policy and practice on a national and international level. Our national and international research standing represents our excellence, with 92% of our research deemed 'world-leading' and 'internationally excellent' in the Research Excellence Framework, 2021.

We recognise the growing internationalisation of research agendas in legal, socio-legal, and criminal justice studies. We run lively programmes of seminars and colloquia, host visiting scholars and work with key policy makers.

Our research is organised around the following themes:

• Business Law and Practice

• Criminal Justice Studies

• Innovation and Research in Legal Education

• Law and Social Justice

We offer two research degree paths for postgraduate researchers:

• PhD

• MA by Research
