Postdoctoral Position to study molecular mechanisms underlying language development

Position Summary

A Postdoctoral Position is available in the Neuroscience Center at the LSU School of Medicine (New Orleans) to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying speech and language development and related neural developmental disorders such as autisms. We use the songbird as a model, taking advantage of its well-developed vocal learning behavior and experimentally accessible neural circuitry. We employ an integrative approach that combines analysis of gene and epigenetic regulation, dendritic and synaptic development and plasticity, and vocal learning behavior of songbirds.

We seek an energetic and self-motivated individual with a recent PhD in molecular neuroscience or related fields to join our team. Broad experiences in immunohistochemistry, microscope imaging, cell culture, Western blot, qRT-PCR, and animal behavior analysis are especially desirable.

Minimum Qualification

PhD in molecular neuroscience or related fields
