爱荷华大学耳鼻喉头颈外科Xiaoyang Hua实验室招聘博士后
A postdoctoral research scholar (or equivalent) position is available in the Department of Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Iowa. Research in the laboratory is broadly focused on airway mucosal immunology, particularly, the immunologic link between the nose and lungs and how nasal virus infection causes asthma exacerbations (currently supported by an NIH R01 Grant).
Research in the lab ranges from immunology, basic molecular biology, virology, to measurements of physiological/immunologic parameters in small animal models of virus infection.
A second project is to develop novel material and surgical system for endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery. This is a multidisciplinary collaborative project involving bioengineering, genetics, skull base and neurosurgery.
Duties and responsibilities: The successful candidate will work closely with the principal investigator(a suegeon scientist), as well as other fellows, residents, clinicians, medical students, and technicians in a highly collaborative environment integrating clinical and basic science. Independent and creative ideas and approaches are highly encouraged. Post-doctoral scholar will be self-motivated and will be responsible for the experimental design, collecting and analyzing research data, maintaining logbooks, troubleshooting experiments, and training graduate students, residents, fellows, and research assistants. Post-doctoral scholar will also be responsible for the preparation of manuscripts related to his/her work. Strong research ethics and integrity are a must-have.Education Requirement:
Candidates must have an MD or a PhD in a biological science field. Previous training in immunology is desired.
Required Qualifications:
Good written and verbal communication skills are required. Lab experience in virology, basic molecular biology methods, immunology (such as analyzing APCs, T cells, B cells, T cells and other innate immunocytes using immunologic methods), evaluation of humoral immune response, experience with handling mice including generation of mouse models and tissues processing, and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel are required.
Desirable Qualifications:
Lab experience in respiratory medicine, respiratory cell biology, RNA-sequencing, previous training in microscopic surgery. These qualifications are desired but no required.
