About the Project
From evolutionary educational psychology, learning biologically secondary knowledge (i.e., knowledge taught in schools or Universities) could be enhanced by applying biologically primary knowledge (the knowledge we are born to have). Story telling has long history during human's development, which may be a type of biologically primary knowledge, therefore, we may design stories to teach mathematics knowledge taught in schools as biologically secondary knowledge. This project aims to design some stories to teach early-year mathematics (such as 1-digit addition or subtraction), by running a series of experiments.
Entry requirements:
Applicants should have at least a 2:1 honours degree (or equivalent international qualification) in a relevant field.
Students need to have strong quantitative research skills with good English writing skill, also students with cognitive/educational psychology background are preferred.
