About the Project
An exciting opportunity for 2x fully funded 4 year PhD students and a research assistant position (3 years) will become available at the Translational Immunology Laboratory at the School of Biotechnology, DCU. The successful candidates will perform research on T cells and synovial fibroblasts with the aim of identifying novel therapeutic targets for Rheumatoid and Psoriatic Arthritis. As part of this project the PhD students with the support of the research assistant will utilise bioinformatic, flow cytometric approaches and novel in vitro culture systems including 3D-cultures in order to identify pathways of T cell-synovial fibroblast crosstalk. This project is funded by the Health Research Board under project HRB EIA 2022-002 and is supported by expert collaborators in Trinity College and Saint’s Vincent’s University Hospital.
Requirements: Minimum of a Bachelor of Science (2.1 or higher) in Immunology, Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics or a related discipline from the life sciences or data sciences.
Desirable: Masters level research experience is highly desirable. Flow cytometric analysis experience. Cell culture expertise. Bioinformatics, R, python programming capabilities highly desirable.
