Original Article
Should be written with the following elements in the following order: title page; funding; disclosures; abstract; keywords; main text introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion; acknowledgments; references; figure captions (as a list); table(s) with caption(s) (on individual pages); figures; appendices (as appropriate). Discussions should address the translational application of the reported findings. This is particularly important for manuscripts addressing preclinical questions. When appropriate, this narrative should reflect how the presented findings promote the reduction of substance use and/or prevalence of substance use disorders via prevention, treatment, service delivery, or policy. Generally, we will consider a series of cases that illustrate an important clinical or research issue as an original article. Methods should briefly describe the informed consent process, including the Institutional Review Board (IRB)/Ethics Committee (EC) or Animal Care and Use Committee (ACUC) that reviewed and approved (or exempted) the study. A novel case report and other uncontrolled observations should be submitted as Letters to the Editor.
Original articles should not exceed 4000 words (main text only, excluding abstract, references, figures, and tables)
