Guide for Authors
1.1 Information Tabs
MANUSCRIPT INFORMATION
VERSION HISTORY: original submission and revisions/resubmissions (latest version by default).
Click ‘Switch Details’ to foreground other version (to access details of these versions).
Revisions ‘.R1’ = purple bar, resubmissions = blue bar, invited manuscripts = yellow bar.
AUTHOR-SUPPLIED DATA: ‘Show’ at Custom Questions to access declarations, statements etc.
PLAGIARISM: Select document ( ‘submit’). Return to page later for link to similarity report.
AUDIT TRAIL
Important correspondence received outside of S1 can be entered below audit trail table.
E-mails are accessible via envelope symbol; they can be forwarded (also use this to resent).
MANUSCRIPT FILES
UPDATE AN EXISTING DOCUMENT: access via ‘Edit Details’ (keeps older file versions archived).
ADD A NEW DOCUMENT: Use file upload area, select ‘File Designation’.
CHANGE MANUSCRIPT STATUS: UNSUBMIT manuscript if you require author to update files(e.g. if files are incomplete or faulty). Author resubmits under same manuscript ID.
Click WITHDRAW if author wishes to withdraw submission altogether. Both trigger editable e-mails to author.
1.2 Notes function & manuscript flags
FLAG a Manuscript: Colours/flags chosen here will be tied to the manuscript ID and visible in all overview lists. Flags can be named/text-labelled (please contact support).
NOTES: Accessible from bottom of all three tabs, add/edit notes from here or click the green button in header (next to the manuscript ID). Updated notes appear as purple in the manuscript header.
1.3 User Searches & User Admin
Wildcard: use * to improve search results – searches are not case-sensitive, but *sm* has better return rate than sm* or Sm*.
From any editor center, you have access to quick search (top right corner).
QUICK SEARCH and ADVANCED SEARCH is accessible from your dashboard.
