Author Guidelines
Ameghiniana publishes three types of manuscripts, which differ in their scope:
Articles: research or review papers are welcome, either shor or long, manuscripts will have to be submitted as articles. From June 2021 there is a waiver of printing costs for articles up to 35 printed pages (= up to 35 printed pages in the final galley proof).

Waiver of printing costs
Ameghiniana will cover the printing cost of up to 35 printed pages (= up to 35 pages in the final galley proof). Historically, most of the submitted manuscripts have had less than 35 printed pages. Please contact Editor-in-chief if you think your manuscript may exceed 35 printed pages.
Fossil repositories and fossil heritage legislation
Authors should consider that, to the best of their knowledge, materials described in manuscripts submitted to Ameghiniana must have been collected and deposited in collections in accordance with the corresponding paleontological heritage legislation. Newly collected fossil specimens from Argentina should be housed in a national repository following the Argentinian archaeological and paleontological heritage law Nº 25743 (https://www.argentina.gob.ar/normativa/nacional/ley-25743-86356). The nonfulfillment of this point will be considered cause enough to retract the paper.
Changes to authorship
Authors are expected to consider carefully the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript and provide the definitive list of authors at the time of the original submission. Any change in authorship should be made only before the manuscript has been accepted and only if approved by the Editor-in-chief. To request such a change, the Editor must receive the following from the corresponding author: (a) the reason for the change in author list and (b) written confirmation (e-mail, letter) from all authors that they agree with the rearrangement. In the case of addition or removal of authors, this includes confirmation from the author being added or removed.
English grammar correction service
Starting from August 1st 2017, the Editorial Team will evaluate if an accepted manuscript requires an English grammar correction. This service will be performed during the copyediting process once the manuscript has been accepted. The Asociación Paleontológica Argentina will cover the costs of this service if the first author is a member of the Association. Otherwise, the Editorial Production Team will contact the authors to coordinate payment for this service. Ameghiniana is aware of English language barrier for many Latin American authors and so our editorial staff is required to be sensitive about making comments while proof reading in order to help overcoming this important obstacle.

You are requested to identify who provided financial support for your research.
Register of new names
The Editorial Team of Ameghiniana assumes the responsibility of registering all new zoological/botanical names and the works that contain them in the corresponding bank (Zoobank, Mycobank, IFPNI, etc.). This information will appear in the final galley.

If you find problems when you try to log in to our system, please try one of the following options: (1) clean and delete the cookies of your browser (specifically those starting with "amgh"); (2) try to login on incognito mode; (3) try to log in using a different browser (chrome, firefox, explorer, etc.). Ameghiniana policies regarding the different versions of manuscripts. Please note that in such cases in which the authors choose to make their paper Open Access (OA) differences apply.
-Submitted Manuscript Under Review (SMUR or Pre-print): The Owner licenses back the following rights to the author/s to self-archive or post the SMUR on the author’s personal website, Institutional Repository, Funder Designated Repository, Academic Social Networks or other Named Repository, or share copies with colleagues, without any embargo period. In all cases, the publisher's source (Ameghiniana) must be mentioned. If available, the author/s should also provide the link to the published version, including DOI; this can be done at a later stage as well.
-Accepted Manuscript (AM or Post-print): The AM version will be posted in the “Future Issues” section of the website of Ameghiniana shortly after acceptance, including a cover page with its DOI indicator. This version will be Open Access to everyone. See below for exception. The Owner licenses back the following rights to the author/s in the version of the manuscript accepted for publication: to self-archive or post on the author’s personal website, Institutional Repository, Funder Designated Repository, Academic Social Networks and Named Repository, or share copies with colleagues, without any embargo period. In all cases, the Accepted Version posted must contain a legend as follows: This is the accepted version of the following manuscript: FULL CITE, which has been published in final form at [Link to post-print, including DOI]. We invite the authors to download and use the official version of the AM posted on Ameghiniana’s website for the purposes mentioned above. Exception: AMs containing new names and/or nomenclatural acts will not be released immediately after acceptance in order to ensure that no nomina nuda will appear online.
