Manuscript Submission
New submissions should be made via the Research Exchange submission portal. Should your manuscript proceed to the revision stage, you will be directed to make your revisions via the same submission portal. You may check the status of your submission at anytime by logging on to submission.wiley.com and clicking the “My Submissions” button. For technical help with the submission system, please review our FAQs or contact submissionhelp@wiley.com.
Manuscript Types
Research Articles: Full-length research articles describe important new experimental results or theoretical research findings, which have special significance and general interest. They typically receive two or more reviews. The nominal length is 6000 words plus references. Each normal-sized figure or table contributes the equivalent of about 120 words to the word count.
Special Theme Research Articles: Special sections or issues may be devoted to timely symposia or to groups of invited papers on selected topics. Please see the “Research Articles” section for rules pertaining to format and presentation.
R&D Notes are short reports that develop the essence of new experimental or theoretical concept or data. There is no abstract, but keywords are required. Notes should not exceed 2000 word count and usually receives a single review. Letters to the Editors are usually of two types. Letters commenting on previously published articles will generally be sent to the authors of those articles to provide an opportunity for a response prior to publication. Letters also concern with novel concepts or giving advance results that will subsequently be reported fully in a paper. Letters should normally be limited to 600 words and no more than 20 references.
Review Articles: Critical reviews of important areas of chemical engineering should discuss the background, state of the art, and current research problems requiring better understanding. Reviews of emerging areas and those that stimulate new research are particularly encouraged.
Book Reviews will generally be by invitation, and usually should not exceed three double-spaced pages. Book Reviews will be reviewed by the Editor.
Correlations are brief descriptions on the organization of existing information into useful and compact relationships where the mathematical framework may be empirical.
Manuscript Preparation
Main Text File
Manuscripts can be uploaded either as a single document (containing the main text, tables and figures), or with figures and tables provided as separate files. Should your manuscript reach revision stage, figures and tables must be provided as separate files. The main manuscript file can be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or LaTex (.tex) format.
If submitting your manuscript file in LaTex format via Research Exchange, select the file designation “Main Document – LaTeX .tex File” on upload. When submitting a Latex Main Document, you must also provide a PDF version of the manuscript for Peer Review. Please upload this file as “Main Document - LaTeX PDF.” All supporting files that are referred to in the Latex Main Document should be uploaded as a “LaTeX Supplementary File.”
Your main document file should include:
A short informative title containing the major key words. The title should not contain abbreviations
The full names of the authors with institutional affiliations where the work was conducted, with a footnote for the author’s present address if different from where the work was conducted;
Acknowledgments;
Abstract structured of no more than 200 words describing the content and results of the paper;
Up to six keywords; a list of recommended keywords for authors can be found within the Practical Advice for Authors;
Main body: formatted as introduction, materials & methods, results, discussion, conclusion
References;
Tables (each table complete with title and footnotes);
Figures: Figure legends must be added beneath each individual image during upload AND as a complete list in the text.
