Types of Papers
The Journal publishes Regular Papers (Research Articles), Rapid Communications and Invited Reviews
Regular Papers (Research Articles) - the manuscript being submitted must consist of original research performed by the authors and the research must include new information that is of significance
Rapid Communications - These papers communicate brief reports of data from original research that editors believe will be interesting to many researchers, and that will likely stimulate further research in the field. They are relatively short the format (max 4 pages) is useful for scientists with results that are time sensitive (for example, those in highly competitive or quickly-changing disciplines).
Invited Reviews - Reviews are submitted by invitation from the editorial board, and encompass recent important scientific discoveries. If you have an idea for a review article, please contact first the Publishing Editor (See “Contact the Journal” section for contact details).
Comments and Replies - Comments and Replies include discussion and commentary addressing significant aspects of the original paper but without a) representing essentially new papers, b) delving into too much detail, or c) becoming personal.
They should address non-trivial aspects that will interest readers other than the authors of the comment and the original paper. They should not exceed two printed pages in the Applied Physics A format and should not include an abstract.
