Guide for Authors
Aims and scope
Additive Manufacturing is the peer-reviewed journal that provides academia and world-leading industry with high quality research papers and reviews in additive manufacturing. The journal aims to acknowledge the innovative nature of additive manufacturing and its broad applications to outline the current and future developments in the field.
Additive manufacturing technologies are positioned to provide a disruptive transformation in how products are designed and manufactured. In response, there was a need to create a unique, in-depth publication outlet for engineers, materials scientists, and practitioners in academia and virtually any industry to document innovation of these technologies
The journal covers a wide scope, comprising new technologies, processes, methods, materials, systems, and applications in the field of additive manufacturing. Topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to:
Design and Modeling
• Multiple material components and devices Heterogeneous Design
• Heterogeneous Design
• Modeling from concept to manufacture to implementation to disposal - the entire product life cycle

•The journal does not accept part papers and all submissions must be stand-alone articles
Important considerations
when submitting to the journal Additive Manufacturing are included below. Failure to comply may result in rejection without review.
• The journal strictly abides by ISO/ASTM 52900 standard terminology for the title and abstract as defined in: https://www.astm.org/Standards/ISOASTM52900.htm Other trademarked or non-standard terms can be used but only after definition in the context of ISO/ASTM in the introduction
• Figures must be in-line with text for reviewability
• 5,000 - 13,000 words for a full length article, and a minimum of 8,000 words for a review article. Longer full length manuscripts may be submitted after discussion with and approval from an editor for the entire manuscript including references and figure captions - reported by either iThenticate or Microsoft Word. Waivers for this requirement may be granted
• The journal maintains a rigorous standard for language and originality. Papers must be publication-ready and fully-original to be considered for review
• All published work must be sufficiently described to be reproduced by other researchers. Please avoid citing previous work to describe the details but include full details for experiment reproduction. Describe details on the equipment modeland hardware details, software and firmware versions,processing parameters, feedstock, testing standards and coupons, any sample preparation, and any other experimental details required for reproducibility
• Pre-print and thesis publication prior to the submission to this journal is strongly discouraged as the pre-prints can interfere with plagiarism detection. Submitting pre-prints afterwards is allowable
• This journal requires that all new submissions be clean submissions without reference or highlighting related to any previous reviewer recommendations or author responses from this or other journal submissions. However, in the extreme event of authors choosing to submit a new, clean submission from a rejected article from this or other journals, notes to the editor describing how the paper was improved are required. Failure to provide the notes to the editor may result in a desk rejection without review. This journal otherwise treats resubmissions as independent submissions
• The unspecific use of ?Additive Manufacturing? in a title is discouraged and reduces publication visibility and citations
• Two-part papers are not allowed. Each submitted paper must stand independently
•All submissions using machine Learning (ML) follow the Machine Learning Requirements and Guidelines
• Writing in third person is preferred in this journal
• When your manuscript has previously been rejected by another journal, please indicate this and include all correspondence and reviews with your submission within the cover letter to the editors.
• Only submissions that provide substantial advancements in additive manufacturing research will be considered.
